Lake Tahoe in Every Season

If there’s one place that captures everything I love about exploring and being outside, it’s Lake Tahoe. This post is the start of sharing the places that make me feel most alive and the moments that shape my wanderish life—beginning with one of my favorite mountain destinations in the world.

Lake Tahoe is a place I return to again and again. No matter the season—summer hikes, fall colors, winter skiing, or spring trail runs—we always end up having the best time. The scenery feels almost like a kid’s coloring book—every color turned up a notch. The greens and browns of the pine trees, the bright blue lake and sky, the gray granite rocks… everything looks bold and intentional, like someone outlined it all in crayon.

It’s the kind of place where world-class outdoor adventures sit right next to real convenience. You get easy access to great shops, restaurants, and a surprisingly fun nightlife, especially around South Lake Tahoe. Sure, some areas can be touristy, but Tahoe still manages to feel like a normal town—something you don’t always find in popular mountain getaways. There’s a steady, year-round community that lives and works here, and that gives the region a grounded, lived-in feel.

Being so close to Carson City, Reno, and Sacramento makes everything even more accessible. Larger stores, more restaurants, and both the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and Sacramento International Airport are only a short drive away, making it simple to plan a Lake Tahoe trip without feeling isolated. Tahoe has this incredible balance of nature, adventure, and everyday convenience that keeps drawing me back.
